Welcome Outreach and Operations Director Jackie Kramer

We couldn’t be happier to introduce you to Thrive Hood River’s newest staff member. Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Jackie first moved to Oregon to attend university in Ashland, where she studied English and Writing. Since graduating, she has lived, studied, and worked in Chile, New Mexico, Oakland, and finally, Hood River, where she and her family have chosen to establish roots and build a life.
Through researching food sovereignty in Ecuador at the University of New Mexico, she developed an understanding of the importance of land use planning, most notably ensuring that it is structured to benefit diverse populations. Seeing the effects of gentrification in her hometown, and the lack of affordable housing in Hood River, she is also passionate about ensuring a place to live for people from all walks of life. After working for a local non-profit to support families access childcare, resources, and healthcare, she hopes to bring that knowledge into her work at Thrive and foster more diverse engagement in land-use planning.
