Hike and Bike Summer Series: Tilly Jane Hike and Land Trade Update
July 28 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Get Fit and Thrive this Summer! Whether you’re walking, biking, skating, or scooting, one thing’s for sure – active transportation is the way to go in Hood River. So grab your helmet, hit the road, and let’s make some memories together! Join Thrive for hike and bike adventures this summer during July, August and September! We will have two events each month with a celebration and awards for top finishers at Thrive’s annual fundraiser on Sunday September 29, 3 pm outdoors at The Ruins, Hood River.
Join Thrive’s Co-Executive Directors for a guided hike up the Tilly Jane Ski Trail #643 to the Tilly Jane A Frame. This difficult hiking trail, which was first cut in 1938 by members of the Crag Rats, climbs 1900 vertical feet and totals 5.4 miles. The beautiful up and back hike passes through the forest that would be heavily impacted by any potential destination resort development, along the regrowth from the Gnarl Ridge fire, and into the Tilly Jane Historic District. This is a chance to learn about our ongoing work to protect this area from destination resort development.
The Mount Hood Land Trade started over twenty years ago. Mt. Hood Meadows LLC tried to locate a giant destination resort with hundreds of condos, shopping malls, restaurants and golf courses just outside of Parkdale. Thrive Hood River is still fighting in court to protect the water, wildlife and habitat from potential large development. We invite you to stand up with us to protect the north side of Mt. Hood.
